In today’s digital world, cyber bullying can be difficult to see, and can happen to anyone at anytime and anywhere. According to Statistics Canada, about one in five individuals aged 15 to 20 experienced cyberstalking or cyberbullying. Since many of our employees have families and children, Delta-Q Technologies felt the importance of participating in Pink Shirt Day this year, and do our part to end bullying by raising awareness.
Pink Shirt Day is a global movement that started in Nova Scotia in 2007, where two high school students organized a protest in support of a fellow student who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. Fast forward ten years later, this act of kindness evolved into a worldwide campaign for people to raise awareness and stand up against bullying.
Touched by this initiative, our employees from Europe, Asia and North America were happy to get behind this cause and donned pink to show their support! Team members also volunteered to host a bake sale to fundraise for Pink Shirt Day. Thanks to their efforts and donations, Delta-Q Technologies raised over $620, where the net proceeds will be donated to Pink Shirt Day’s anti-bullying initiatives that directly help BC youths in need, and teach children empathy, compassion, and kindness. It was truly amazing to see our global offices come together for such a wonderful cause. It really speaks to how this issue spans across countries and how our words matter.
At Delta-Q, we are always finding ways to give back to our community, and support initiatives close to our employees’ hearts. With Pink Shirt Day kicking off 2018, we look forward to participating in future events throughout the year to make an impact in our community.
If you would like to show your support for Pink Shirt Day, you can support local-anti bullying programs by fundraising or making a donation. To learn more visit www.pinkshirtday.ca
