Women Driving Innovation: A Q&A with Miriam Alvarado and Gigi Estrada

International Women’s Day in March is an important moment to recognize and celebrate the contributions of women across industries, but those contributions, and the conversations they spark, extend far beyond a single day. At Delta–Q Technologies, the impact of women is felt year-round across teams and functions. From product strategy to sales operations, diverse perspectives play a critical role in how we innovate, collaborate, and deliver for our customers.

We spoke with Miriam Alvarado, Product Manager, and Gigi Estrada, who leads Sales Operations, about their roles, what excites them about working in a technology-driven environment, and their advice for women building careers in engineering and tech.

Q: Can you tell us about your role at DeltaQ and what your day-to-day looks like?

Gigi Estrada: I lead the Sales Operations team, driving operational excellence across Order Management and Fulfillment functions, ensuring customer orders move smoothly from receipt to delivery while maintaining accuracy and cross-functional coordination. Overall, my role is to partner with the Operations and Sales teams to jointly deliver on customer needs.

Miriam Alvarado: As a Product Manager at DeltaQ, I serve as the link between customer needs and crossfunctional teams. I help ensure we prioritize and invest our resources in initiatives that deliver strong customer value while advancing our business objectives in the rapidly evolving electrification market. My daytoday involves working closely with engineering, sales, and operations, aligning priorities and driving customer solutions forward.

Q: What excites you most about your role at DeltaQ Technologies?

Gigi Estrada: The opportunity to bring structure and clarity to complex processes that directly impact customers and revenue. I enjoy connecting the dots between Sales, Operations, Finance, Products, and Engineering to ensure what we commit to externally is fully supported internally. I’m particularly energized solving operational challenges – whether improving a workflow, documenting governance and policies, identifying a process gap that can be optimized, or enabling the team to work better together.

Miriam Alvarado: What excites me most is the ability to collaborate with nearly every team across the company, as well as directly with customers, which gives me a unique end‑to‑end understanding of the business. I’m involved in new product development, working to solve diverse customer needs in a dynamic industry—and at times, it feels like being back at university with all the continuous learning. I also have the opportunity to engage directly with customers, which helps me better understand how our products are used across different applications and the value they deliver.

Q: What inspired you to work for an engineering tech company?

Gigi Estrada: I was inspired to work in an engineering tech company because I wanted first-hand experience in manufacturing and supply chain operations. Earlier in my career, I worked on the vendor side, implementing solutions encompassing Sales & Distribution, Materials Management, and Production Planning. While I helped deploy these systems, I was always curious about how they were truly used in day-to-day operations.  Working for Delta-Q has given me that real-world perspective and deeper understanding of how demand planning decisions affect production schedules, how supply constraints impact customer commitments, and how systems and processes need to work together. That perspective has given me a deeper appreciation for both technology and the operational discipline required to make it effective.

Miriam Alvarado: I’m naturally curious, so I’m drawn to environments where I can keep learning, especially in such a dynamic industry. I also really enjoy working with engineers—since I have an engineering background but operate on the business side, I love bridging those two perspectives and seeing how that collaboration leads to better products.

Q: What do you think is the best part about being a woman in the engineering/tech field?

Gigi Estrada: The opportunity to bring diverse perspectives into an environment that is often analytical and process-driven. I’ve found that strong outcomes in tech and engineering don’t just come from technical expertise – they come from collaboration, communication, and the ability to connect cross-functional teams.

Miriam Alvarado: Women bring valuable diversity to the tech field. Diverse teams are stronger, and having a mix of perspectives leads to better approaches in communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. That diversity ultimately drives better products and stronger decision-making.

Q: What advice would you give to women looking to enter the engineering/tech industry?

Gigi Estrada: I would encourage women to step into opportunities even if they don’t feel 100% capable. Growth happens by doing, concentrate on building confidence and competence. Focus on understanding both the technical and business sides of the industry. Ask questions and trust that your perspective adds value.

Miriam Alvarado: My advice is to believe in your abilities. Technical knowledge can always be learned with the right attitude and a willingness to ask questions. Success in the engineering and tech industry isn’t just about technical skills—it also requires strong collaboration and communication, which are equally valuable.
