Delta-Q Technologies’ new IC650 redefines battery charger durability for electric floor machines

ISSA / INTERCLEAN 2012 CONFERENCE, CHICAGO, USA – October 17, 2012 – Today Delta-Q Technologies Corp. released its new IC650 industrial battery charger at ISSA / Interclean 2012, the international sanitation industry’s annual conference in Chicago, Illinois.

The Delta-Q IC650 is a 650 watt high frequency industrial battery charger designed to deliver high reliability and unmatched floor machine design flexibility that will benefit both original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their end customers. In addition, the IC650 offers innovative charger monitoring and control features to simplify field service and future charger software updates.

The IC650 incorporates a sealed die cast aluminum enclosure to protect the charger’s internal components from high vibration, ambient temperature extremes, and moisture commonly found in electric drive floor cleaning applications. The die cast design also helps to keep the charger electronics cool, without the need for failure prone cooling fans.

“The IC650 will appeal to OEMs and end users in the floor cleaning market due to its innovative features and design. We listened extensively to our customers and built this charger from the ground up to maximize charger life, while at the same time making it easier for OEMs to design our charger into both on-board and off-board machine applications ” says Ken Fielding, President and CEO of Delta-Q.

“We were also looking to create easy-to-use innovations that no one has ever built into an industrial battery charger,” Fielding adds.

The charger features a USB host port, which allows customers to download charge tracking data to easily diagnose field problems or help to establish warranty entitlement for the battery pack used on the machine. In addition, the USB host port can be used to update charging profiles or the charger’s firmware to add future functionality. The benefit of the USB host port is that both downloading charge history or uploading new charger software can be accomplished using any commonly available USB flash drive. This avoids the need for specialized field service tools.

The IC650 is the first of a family of industrial battery chargers to be released by Delta-Q in the future. New models will be positioned at power levels above and below Delta-Q’s current offerings, and will feature the same die cast design and advanced charging features. Delta-Q’s existing QuiQTM 1 kilowatt battery charger, used by Nilfisk-Advance, Tennant, Clarke and Kärcher, will remain in service alongside the IC650 charger.

Delta-Q is exhibiting at Booth 1569 at ISSA and will be providing demonstrations of the IC650 charger.
