IC650 Charger spotlighted for design methodology leading to high reliability

Delta-Q Technologies’ new IC650 650 watt industrial battery charger was designed from the beginning to have a very high degree of durability and reliability when used on-board in machines such as golf cars, scissor lifts and floor cleaning machines. These applications subject the charger to a high amount of shock and vibration, and expose the charger to debris, dirt and fluids.

Through the National Research Council of Canada Industrial Research Assistance Program’s (NRC IRAP) Digital Technology Adoption Pilot Program (DTAPP), Delta-Q received funding to have several of our engineers receive Design for Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) training. DFMEA is a method used by engineers to document and explore ways in which a product design might fail in real-world use. The end result is meant to be a product with a much lower failure rate than would be possible without DFMEA.

The contributions of DFMEA thinking to the design of the IC650 charger is spotlighted in a recent article posted on the NRC IRAP web site.
