Delta-Q charges Amarok Racing’s P1A superbike in Pike’s Peak Hill Climb

The Amarok P1A, Canada’s first electric superbike, will compete in the prestigious Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Championship from June 24-30, 2013.

Designed by Amarok Consultants, the P1A uses a 96V QuiQ battery charger, configured to charge the motorcycle’s lithium polymer (LiPo) battery pack.

Amarok Racing’s goal is to win the exhibition class for motorcycles and set a record time up the mountain for an electric motorcycle.Six-time event champion Greg Tracy will be riding the P1A and said that he chose to ride for Amarok based on their use of new technologies and alternative power sources:”I have always been intrigued by the Makers Movement and how alternative energy will impact my life and ultimately, my children’s lives. We need to be aware of the guys who are representatives of where our futures lie. Pikes Peak has always been about pushing the limit, showcasing new technologies with the best racers against the most extreme environment. When you combine all of our passion for the race, new technology with a couple of guys building one of the most interesting electric motorcycles in a 140 year-old barn…well, I knew I just wanted to be part of this program,” said Greg Tracy, in Amarok’s news release announcing his ridership.
